I update this page once in a while, check back when you want to know what I’m up to lately.

Science problems I think about
- what if we care less about perfect fidelity in quantum control — could that buy us something more useful?
- scalable single-qubit robust gates under always-on couplings
- twirling and randomized compiling, but on steroids
- when symmetry makes quantum noise less annoying
- something about gates in semiconductor spin qubits
Work / workflow
- i now use Codex, Claude Code, and Cursor heavily. bossing them around is fun. still figuring out how to make them useful in an actual research workflow.
- i let openclaw send me daily briefs on arXiv papers. it is anxiety-inducing to know how much new work comes out in my area every day, especially when something starts to overlap with what i am working on.
- i am trying to do more academic travel. lots of hassles to deal with.
Life
- relationship with Dr. Dai is as great as ever — thanks for asking.
- not making music lately, would love to get back into it.
- i am managing my ADHD better these days.
- life outside work became even more inactive, which is impressive in a technical sense.
- i became slightly more serious about my work now. dangerous development.
- i question more about my existence now.
Watching / Playing
- The Four Seasons on Netflix
- Only Murders in the Building on Disney+
- Pokopia on Nintendo Switch 2. it is dangerously addictive.
One more thing
- AI is changing the world like nothing else in human history. and yes, i think we are all pretty much doomed.
